UnCOMMON GROUNDS exhibition with Space Collective

Does a work of art address the space through its materiality or its emotional value, and does the object define the space or the space define the object?

Space does not sit passively by as part of our environment; it is both an abstract idea and a physical vital force. It is durational in its ability to adapt to seasonal change. It is oppressive in its ability to confine and liberating when unrestricted and exposed. It is both permanent and fleeting. It is personal, social and public. It is a place to breathe or reflect.

“My works “Broken Dreams, Unravelling and Contained Space” respond to the back room and cells; a space of transition and containment at the same time, where fragile lives are frozen and suspended in time and their rights of freedom are taken. Windows are the only contacts with the real, where life continues, a testimony of how it could have been but is not. The outside is just one step away, it makes you dream but is out of reach and impenetrable. “
