Project HABITAT at RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival - ‘Urban Oasis’

Urban Oasis is an inhabitable artwork that contributes to the regeneration of the environment and biodiversity within urban pockets.

My sculptural habitat combines the recent environmental approach in Architecture and sustainability within artistic practice, it is fabricated with 13 repurposed concrete cores and mild steel. Natural elements such as soil, moss, plants, shade and rain are part of the sculpture and equally important materials.

This sculptural habitat provides food and shelter for snails and slugs; as a result , is a food source for birds. Snails and slugs are the base of the food chain for some of the local species such as the Song Thrush.

The artwork is now in display at the Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival by the Surrey Hills gazebo in the Go Wild zone and will then be installed permanently in another public location, TBD….
